The Heathrow fire

The Heathrow fire

The fire is believed to have caused the biggest chaos that the international airport Heathrow has ever experienced. The cause: ventilation ducts from a restaurant coated in grease.

The fire raged for several hours and paralyzed large parts of the airport. More than 300 flights were cancelled or diverted. The fire spread through 200 meters of ventilations system before the over 100 firefighters involved finally managed to extinguish the fire.

Miraculously, the staff and the visitors managed to get away without injuries. Meanwhile the financial loss for the restaurant, the airport, the passengers and the airlines were towering.

Did you know that, in Sweden, the number of restaurant fires has increased by over 40% since 1998?
